Neu-Isenburg, Südhessen, December 2008 It’s another cold winter evening and Christian Kuhn and XXXXX XXXX spend it talking about music while enjoying some delicious local apple wine. Both appreciated items for a comfortable evening staying in. But while the bottle of apple wine is empty at one point, the thoughts on music and sound don’t seem to come to an end. It is another of these many talkative nights since Kuhn and XXXX have moved in together in an shared appartment of musicians. Music is always the most discussed and popular topic, but this night will be different from the others in the end. It’s the night when the idea of the Trommelmanufaktur is born.

The philosophy:
Kuhn & XXXX's philosophy supports the idea of using only excellent woods and metals for the construction of your drums. It is essential to considerate extraordinary construction methods in order to create Instruments with our unique Kuhn & XXXX Sound. Every drum has its own soul and sound, which is created in the Trommelmanufaktur during the whole building process.

Kuhn:
Christian Kuhn was born as the son of a passionate jazz drummer und has been used to traditional sounds since he was lying in the cradle. He startet playing guitar as a teenager and formed a band with friends. From the very beginning he put the focus on sound. Being attentive and always willing to improve the band’s sound possibilities, he became a sound perfectionist. "The interaction and the technical skills of every musician is enormously important in order to make the overall sound perfect. But that’s not all: the single frequences and all the instruments are really important to make the band’s sound unique.
There are many examples in the past for every music genre", Kuhn tells about his impressions and thoughts. Inspired by his experiences and his interests he fulfilled the apprenticeship of a carpenter in order to learn about wood and its processing. After finishing his apprenticeship as a journeyman, he studied audio engineering until 2008 – this was the milestone for his decision to build his own drums. The first step for a future in building instruments was maid.
